Modifying and Optimizing Images Once you have added an image to your photobook, you may wish to further manipulate or modify the image in order to optimize it for your production. Editing Photos There are two basic ways to edit and modify a photo in your photobook. 1. Click once on the image, then make modifications available to you in the "Image Tool Work Area"; or
2. Double Click on the image, to open the PhotobookMagic "Edit Image Editor"
. Using the Edit Image Editor This tool allows you to modify the image size, including cropping, centering, rotating, mirror as well as the addition and subtraction of effects. . To edit the size, center or to crop your image Click on the "Image Size Tab" (open by default normally however). If applicable (you will see a lighter coloured box, inside a darker colour box), move the higlighted image area by clicking and dragging the lighter box so that the appropriate area of your photo is shown and centred. To modify the size of the area shown, go to the edge of the image, then drag and pull (or expand) the image boundries to the appropriate area/location. Click on "Apply" when finished.
. Rotating or Mirroting Your Photos To orient your photos differently than what is currently shown in your photobook, for example to rotate the image, click on the "Rotate & Mirror Tab" The "Rotate" buttons allow you rotate to the left, right and upside down.
The "Mirror" buttons allow you to reflect your image in a mirror. In this example for example, the effect changes the location of the subject and bridge.
The "Free Rotation" option allows you to modify certain angles which impact orientation of the image. A photograph thatr shows a horizon non-parallel to the bottom border of the image for example may be edited so that the horizon becomes parallel to the border. In this example, we rotate the image slightly so that the "fence" is parallel to the border of the image. . Editing the Colour of your Image You can edit the colour saturation and brightness of your image by clicking on the "Color Tab".
. Removing Red-Eye and Further Optimizing Your Image If your image contains speckles, noise, or if your images of people have red-eye, you may wish to use the "Optimize Tab" to modify your image.
The "Sharpening Tool" attempts to optimize unsharp images. Click on the drop down menu, then, while holding your mouse down, drag the counter across to increase the intensity of the image sharpening. The higher the number, the less “smooth” your image will look. The "Despeckle Tool" removes smaller impurities from the image, which are often found in scanned images. The "Remove Noise Tool" looks to remove impurities caused often from the sensor of the camera Increasing the Remove Noise tool flattens the image, removing details. The "Red Eyes Tool" has you draw a small box around the iris' of the eyes that show red-eye effects. The software converts the red spectrum to black, thus "correcting" the undesired red-eye effect. . Applying Black & White, Sepia, Brown Tone and Cold Tone Effects Click on the "Effects Tab" to modify your image using Black & White, Sepia, Brown Tone or Cold Tone effects. Simply click on the pertinent button, and preview the change in the Edit Image Editor.
. Applying Masks or Frames to your Image Click on the "Masks and Frames Tab" to apply borders and transparencies to make your photobook more creative. Next, use the Drop Down Menu and choose the type of Masks or Frame you would like to add to your photo. In this example, we choose "Round Masks".
Next, click on the Mask, and you will see it applied to your photo. You may need to modify the position of your mask. Simply drag and drop the mask to the appropriate and desired location. |
